US to drop COVID testing requirement for international flyers beginning Sunday, 6/12

International travel is about to get a whole lot easier.

The Biden administration announced Friday that the United States will no longer require a pre-departure COVID-19 test to enter the country starting Sunday.

The requirement will be lifted at 12:01 a.m. ET, according to a senior administration official. The rule change comes more than a year after the country started requiring a negative test for entry and more than two years since the pandemic began.

The Dominican Republic now joins the list of countries that have removed all pandemic-related entry requirements, becoming the 35th nation to do so. - Travel Off Path - 4/26/2022

Earlier on in 2022, the Dominican Republic had removed almost all of their covid entry requirements but kept just a few in place that still presented barriers to entry for some travelers. However, from this week, all of the entry requirements have now been officially removed. Read more ...

Within the Mexican classification, a green status symbolizes the optimal health scenario, when cases and thus hospitalizations and death rates are low, and social curbs can be eased. With the whole country classed as ‘green’, Mexico reinforces its position as a restriction-free haven welcoming all categories of travelers, including unvaccinated Americans.

The Dominican Republic has announced that all Covid-19 restrictions are to be removed as of February 16, 2022. The announcement comes off the back of a wave of similar such announcements occurring around the World, where through either recognition that the Omicron variant is mild or through a change of policy, more and more countries have begun to remove their local restrictions and ease their once-prohibitive entry requirements.
